Where to place the call to action button on a website?

Have you ever entered a website where you can’t find a lead form or struggled to find buttons to make a purchase?

There are tons of badly designed websites with the CTA’s (Calls to Action) either hidden or totally not visible on the landing page. Your website visitor is in the first stage of your conversion funnel (be it a lead generation or a product sale). The likelihood that a user will convert is minimal if the CTA’s are not placed strategically for conversion.

Below are some tips on where CTA’s should be ideally placed:

Hero Section

  • Your CTA’s should be easily visible. Ideally, it should be placed in your hero section and above the fold.
  • Create a compelling copy with actionable words.

Example: Check out Zapier’s hero section on their website. Their design and copy are simple and easy to understand with a clear CTA button.

Sticky Header

  • A sticky header allows your top navigation menu to be visible regardless of the user scrolling up or down the site. Create actionable buttons like “Try for free”, “Buy Now” or Sign Up” depending on your product or service.

    Example:
    Check out Slack’s sticky header.

Middle Section

  • As users progress through your brand story, the middle section of your website needs to answer some objections which might run through the user’s mind.  These objections can be blended in with CTA buttons such as “Learn More”, “Blog”, “Testimonials”, Tutorials.

    Example
    Elementor’s landing page

Footer

  • The footer can be at times the most ignored section of the website. However, if the user has made it to the end of your landing page, the chance of a conversion is high. You can place lead forms or CTA buttons such as “Sign Up Now”, “Try for Free”, “Call Us”

    Example: Slack

Try these CTAs on your own website for better conversion.
